WHO WE ARE

10 HORSES, 1 TRAINER, 25 YEARS OF ADVENTURES

"My name Pantelis Deftereos.  I am the owner and manager of the stable.  From a young age, I have been involved with horses, caring for them, training them, and riding.  They are my passion, my hobby, and my life.

Since the early 2000's I have devoted much time to training and retraining behaviourally problematic horses, both riding and carriage.

For over 10 years I have taken part in competition riding, both jumping and dressage, and having placed in many occassions.

Lately, I have invested my time in coaching and training, attending seminars governed by the FÉDÉRATION EQUESTRE INTERNATIONALE."

FILIPPE

At 4 years old, several vets predicted Filippe would die of starvation and laminitis after a messy racing career. We are proud to say that 10 years later, he is still very much alive. Padelis purchased Filippe for 300 euro and spent years nourishing and retraining him. He now spends his days showing off his dressage skills and playing in the field.

HECTOR

ROSA

We are proud to have rescued several horses from near death situations. They have been successfully rehabilitated and trained here on our farm. In addition, we have several homebred greek cobs, a breed native only to Greece.

Hector was bred here on the farm 15 years ago. Over the years, he has collected his own fan club of happy riders. He is the leader of the herd, and (in his mind) the star of the show. He's earned it! Between his beautiful black color and brave personality, he is one of our best for new riders.

Rosa is the mother of Hector, Erasmus, and Erastus. In addition to giving us beautiful foals, she enjoys pulling the carriage as well as rides to the beach. She knows she looks like a unicorn and for this reason, is often a favorite with our younger riders.

ERASTOS

The baby of the bunch! Erastus is 4 years old, and learning more everyday with Padelis and our volunteer riders. He enjoys practicing his flatwork in the olive fields, and playing with his best friend Erasmus in the pasture.

HEVMEOS

Hevmeos is nine years old and the son of Heros and Hermoine. He is often making everyone laugh with his cheeky personality and adorable expressions. He enjoys dressage and is currently learning second level movements with Padelis. Hevmeos is known among our riders for his comfy fifth gait, the tolt.

HEROS

At 4 months old, Heros suffered a nearly fatal accident. The only recommended solution was to shoot him. Padelis rescued him, and 14 years later he is sound, happy and one of our calmest trekking horses. He is one of our smartest, and most humble horses. His mellow personality makes him ideal for the job.

KIKI

Kiki is 30 years old, and is the mother of Hermes & Hermione. Kiki was found as a stray horse, completely neglected, starved, and fearfully aggressive. She often ended up around our farm where she was fed, until Padelis was able to calm and retrain her. She is now a staple in our herd. Fat, happy, and enjoying her retirement.

HERMES

Hermes is known among our riders for his love of the ocean. We can't be sure, but he often is more hippo than horse. He is a favourite for beach rides, and will happily take riders right into the ocean! He is the son of Kiki and brother of Hermoine. From swimming, to trekking, to jumping, Hermes is the epitomy of the Greek cob.

HERMOINE

Hermoine is the daughter of Kiki and the sister of Hermes. She also is the mother of Hevmeos. She is one of our most relaxed horses, completely unbothered by nearly everyone and everything. She is also one of our most clever...we often find her snacking away in the garden, leaving all the other horses in disbelief how she escaped in the first place!

THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR ONE MORE! WE ARE OPEN TO BOARDING, SHOULD YOUR HORSE FIT OUR HERD AND FACILITIES. CONTACT US FOR DETALS!

THE
HISTORY

Greek horse races have been in Greece for the past 10,000 years. They have a height of between 135 and 165 cm depending on the breed.

They are particularly friendly with humans at the point where they are looking for human contact. We have 8 such horses, many of which have been bred on our farm, retaining the original characteristics of each breed.

Our goal is to combine the tradition and culture of Kefalonia with tourism. For this purpose, we have developed a large number of routes accessible by all. From horse riding to our nearby 2-hour beach to a three-day drive during which you have the chance to see, to smell, listening to and learning about the past and present of Kefalonia. Individual tours can be planned together. Dont be shy just ask.

We only organize private teams in our excursions. We believe the organization of equestrian routes with the participation of people unknown among them gives the activity a character of industrialization.
